Born in 1942 in the village of Nabi Chit. He has a degree in Arabic Literature from Beirut Arab University, and is a retired high school teacher. He was elected to Hezbollah’s Shura Council between 1985 – 1990, and then to the Politburo in 1991. He served as the party’s Vice President of Planning in 1998, and then as President in 2000. In 2001, he was the Executive Assistant of Hassan Nasrallah and the official in charge of the party’s municipal portfolio. In 2009, he was elected as Hezbollah’s representative from the District of Baalbek/al-Hermel. He served as a member of the parliamentary Environmental Committee and the Education Committee between 2012-2013.
