Born in 1967, in the Bint Jbeil district’s village of Ainata. He is a Shiite Muslim. He obtained a PhD in Education from Universite Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth in 2009, and also holds a degree in Media from Lebanon University. He joined Hezbollah’s student mobilization in 1983, and began working in media in 1987. He helped found Hezbollah’s radio station, al-Nour, in 1988 and worked as its News Director and then General Director until 1998. In 1991, he established the News Directorate in al-Manar TV. Between 1995 and 1996, he worked as editor-in-chief of Hezbollah’s Al-Ahed newspaper. He was elected to Hezbollah’s Politburo in 1998 and 2004, and worked as al-Manar’s News Director between 2001 and 2005, when he was nominated for parliamentary elections. He was elected as Hezbollah’s representative for the District of Bint Jbeil in 2005 and 2009, and was elected as the chairman of the Lebanese parliament’s Media and Communications Committee both times. He is also a member of the Finance and Budget Committee.
