Ali Meqdad was born in the town of Maqne in 1961. He is a Shiite Muslim. He is a medical doctor, obtaining an MD in Croatia. He specialized in internal medicine at Al-Maqasid Islamic University’s medical school, and neurological diseases at American University of Beirut’s Medical School. He has been an adjunct professor at Lebanese University’s Medical School since 1993. He was elected as Hezbollah’s representative from the District of Baalbek/al-Hermel in 2005, 2009, and again in 2018. He served on the parliamentary Environmental Committee, and is currently a member of the Public Health Committee, Labor Committee, Public Affairs Committee, and Youth and Sports Committee. He is married with three children.
