  • January 20, 2020: Colombia designated Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

Colombia designated Hezbollah as a terrorist organization on January 20, 2020, when it accepted the full U.S. and E.U. lists of terrorist organizations, which included the group. Bogota announced the decision at a meeting on counterterrorism with visiting U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and ministers from several Latin American countries. Pompeo, and then-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had campaigned for months before to have more countries in the region sanction Hezbollah.
